Dr. Edje is a Board Certified Family Physician, Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physician and was the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians 2012 Family Physician of The Year. She had the honor of being the 2019 Thomas Stern Memorial Lecture Plenary Speaker for the Association Family Medicine Residency Directors. She started at Michigan State University at age 16 where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. She was President of her medical school student body at the University of Michigan. She completed her Family Medicine training, with honors, at the Toledo Hospital Family Medicine Residency where she served as Program Director for seven years. In the course of practicing at St.Luke’s Hospital (SLH) she was the youngest Chief of Staff in the 100 year history of the Hospital and the first female Chair of the Department of Medicine. She enjoyed serving her community on the Toledo Children’s Board, ProMedica Health System's Physician Leadership Council and is Past President of University of the Michigan's Michigan Medicine Alumni Society. She was an active member of the University of Michigan Medical School Admissions Executive Committee, an elected representative of Lucas County physicians to the Ohio State Medical Association and an Ohio Delegate to the American Medical Association. She is currently on the Michigan State Medical Society Board of Directors a the academic director. She served as Member-at-Large on the AMA Organized Medical Staff Section Governing Council. She is in her second of three years as chair of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education’s Family Medicine Residency Review Committee and fifth year as member appointed by the AMA Board of Trustees. Dr Edje has a Masters in Health Professions Education from the University of Michigan where she is on faculty in the MHPE Program. She was Designated Institutional Officer for SLH and founding Program Director for the Family Medicine Residency then DIO for over 100 programs at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where she was also Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education. She currently oversees the education of 2,400 medical students, residents and fellows and the continuing medical education of 3,500 faculty. Her interests include assessment in competency based, health professions education and health policy.~
